[ACCI-CAVIE] For this Academy Café, the ‘Friends of Africa‘ community and the economists Koen De Leus & Philippe Gijsels of BNP Paribas Fortis, invited Guy GWETH to give us a 360° view on the African economies.

GWETH will offer a reading grid at the crossroads of geopolitics, economic intelligence, political science, international trade and power strategies to understand the dynamics underway on the continent.

Firstly, the grid decrypts the genesis and evolution of African states, from the Berlin Conference (1885) to the African Continental Free Trade Area (1994 & 2022), via the creation of the Organisation of African Unity (the OAU – 1963).

In a second step, it presents the strengths and weaknesses of African economies.

It concludes by decrypting the new threats and opportunities to which international economic operators are exposed.

The keynote of Mr Gweth will be preceded by some interventions done by Chantal Kamatari (Friends of Africa), Koen De Leus (Chief Economist at BNP Paribas Fortis) and Philippe Gijsels (Chief Strategist at BNP Paribas Fortis).

After the keynote, Chantal will moderate the panel discussion with the three speakers.
